Over the past few weeks, Mr. Dolphin and I have received a few wedding cards in the mail (of which I have a fun and easy DIY keepsake project for after the wedding—stay tuned!). They range from the funny, to the sweet, to the heartfelt, and then there is this little gem… the wedding pop-up card! photo by Miss Dolphin How adorable is that?

Family Lifestyle Photography: Joshua Wood and co

It happened again, a photographer asked us to photograph him and his family. This time I was a little less nervous that we were being trusted to photograph another photographer’s family.

Piglets in Paradise: Footloose!

During Mr Piglet’s Love Actually reenactment , my bridesmaid did a quick scan of the room and noticed that (in her words)- A mong the women, there wasn’t a single dry eye, and among the married or dating men, there was a sense of panic – “how will we ever top that!?” ?Yes, even dear hubby hung his head in defeat. Heehee

Feathers

I don’t like most birds, except for those purty ones found on Cute Overload or in the Amazon rainforest. But I get really jazzed when I see feathers (ironic?). They’ll be in about half our centerpieces, the bridesmaids’ bouquets, my fascinator, and the guestbook pens.

Lindsay Lohan’s tracks are getting leaked

How tragic… just when inspiration finally managed to strike up the nerve to hit Lindsay Lohan over the head with a large mallet someone is spoiling the fruit of her labor. This is what Lindsay Lohan recently said on twitter about her newest musical masterpiece: “i don’t know who, but someone keeps leaking my tracks! i can assure everyone, it is NOT me.. so i’ve decided to do a music video rather than… let my tracks just go to waste….

Poodle Projects: Bridesmaids’ Dresses!

When I was still in Chile I finished 2 ( my MOH’s and sister’s ) of the 4 dresses for the bridesmaids, so with half the work done I didn’t feel so pressured with this particular task, but with only 2 weeks until the wedding, I realized I should have started way earlier!! By this time I wasn’t even done with my wedding dress transformation and I was starting to worry.

We Won the Lottery!

Ok, OK, it’s only the Seattle Parks Department reservation lottery, but hey, it’s pretty important to making Mr Pretzel’s rehearsal dinner dreams come true! Mad Microsoft clip art skills, I tell you! With a recommendation from Mrs Joey we settled the first part of Mr Pretzel’s vision— a Pacific Northwest menu —but the second part, a location outdoors on Puget Sound was yet to be determined.

Surviving Wedding Season as a Single Girl?

– by guest blogger & dating expert Tristan Coopersmith Wedding season is right around the corner… you can smell it with the flowers in bloom, hear it with the chirping birds returning home, see it with the bridal bitches hitting the gym extra hard (I saw one wearing a veil-like sweatband in my spin class last week – true story) and of course nuzzled between your bills and promises to win a million dollars are weekly invites to what seem like everyone’s wedding, but yours. The constant in-your-face reminders that you are single with a capital S can turn the season that is supposed to be filled with sweetness and gorgeous hope into one with an unshakeable devil in a red wedding dress on your shoulder. One where you fixate on how much it sucks to be single, how you will never find love, how broke you are going buying gifts, how likely it is that you’ll be seated next to some creepy uncle and so on and so on.

Australian Wedding by Jonathan Wherrett Photography

Spring is definitely in the air which means weddings GALORE over here at Style Me Pretty! Even if you’re still waiting for the warmth of spring to hit your neck of the woods, surely you’d love to see some pretty pictures of an adorable warm weathered wedding from Australia? Of course you would! Let’s talk about my favorite things from Kristin and Tim’s wedding: That hair piece (wow!), those gorgeous proteas (drool!), coordinating cake and paper products (genius!), and finally the oh-so-wicked pictures from the photobooth (fun!).  There is no shortage of inspiration from this wedding and our bride, Kristin is ready to walk us through her planning process from her big day: I have a background in hospitality, and Tim in graphic design and printing, so it was pretty well decided right from the start that good food, wine, photography and stationery would be priorities in our wedding! We decided on Home Hill winery as our venue (just south of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia) because we knew they do great food, great wine, and above all, because the owner Rosemary personally looks after all the weddings there to make sure everything goes just perfectly. It’s a beautiful venue, with rammed earth walls and floor to ceiling glass to give views out across the vineyard.

Strike a Pose

Mr. Starfish and I have a two hour gap between our ceremony and reception due to our Catholic mass. At first I wasn’t too happy about this because it will be an inconvenience for all of our guests, but then I started looking on the bright side.

Geranium Lake’s Enchanted Forest Wedding

“Isn’t She a Vision of Bridal Beauty?”

At this point of crisis , I could have opted out and decided that I would not attach so much symbolism to this dress. I would have continued with the sub-par design, and it would have been pretty enough. But to do so would have been to completely ignore that the dress did have some significance to me; to have ignored the fear that comes with making an irrevocable, once-in-a-lifetime decision; and would have skipped the hard work of finding out what that significance was and I would have passed on finding out what “beautiful” really meant to me

Engagement Shoot Love: The Fun

In addition to the romantic photos we took with our fab photographer Kelty , we also took a bunch of fun, crazy pics. I had brought along a few ’props’ (if you can call them that), which you can see below: mustache glasses and party blowers. You’re pretty much guaranteed super classy engagement photos when you buy your props at a party supply store.

BIGott – “This Is The Beginning Of A Beautiful Friendship” (Spain is the new Sweden post)

If someone were to ask me what type of music blog I would start right now I think I would say a Spanish twee blog. Spain is the new Sweden. There is a ton of great music, particularly twee, coming out of Spain for some reason.
