Puscifer – The Mission

Tonight’s post comes from Tool / A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan ’s solo side-project Puscifer .  The project has been behind 4 releases to date, including the debut full-length album “V” Is for Vagina , released in October of 2007.  The song in question, The Mission , was not released as a single-proper but instead through the Puscifer website earlier this year.  The track features vocals from musician Danny Lohner  as well as The Fifth Element leading lady Milla Jovovich .  I know I’m a little late getting this song onto the site, but I wasn’t completely in love with this tune when I first heard it.  However, it has grown on me with the persistence of a Charlie Watts drum beat (yeah, I wrote that), and has me completely hooked at this point. What do you know? The birds and the bees they’re all wise to the lies So they took to the trees and took to the skies On top of the chain and safe from the rain Whatcha’ know about the ways of the underside?

Fascinators, Photos, Friends and Fun!

A few months ago, fellow blogger and friend DIY Wedding Girl asked me to model some hairpieces and earrings for a photo shoot. I jumped at the chance, figuring I needed all the modeling practice I could get leading up to our wedding, since I have quite a history of “frozenface”… you know, that “I’m uncomfortable in front of the lens” look?

Teen brothers play piano at Taylor Home on the Southside (The Florida Times-Union)

There was a murmur of anticipation as the two blond Westside teenagers walked into the reception area at Taylor Home on the Southside. “It just makes my heart pound, pound, pound,” said Naomi Montuori, tapping her heart with her hand. “They are wonderful.” Montuori and other appreciative residents sat on comfortable leather chairs and floral sofas awaiting the start of a concert that some have …

The Duhks charm Raleigh’s Berkeley Cafe (6/21)

The Duhks opened up in Raleigh, North Carolina’s humble Berkeley Cafe with an unexpected cover of Bob Dylan’s “It’s All Right Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)”. Freshly inked onto the night’s set-list, they explained their rendition would soon appear on a compilation with the likes of Amos Lee and Lucinda Williams also covering 1960s/70s songwriters of their choosing. Nothing like an exciting morsel to whet your appetite for the rest of the set and just like The Duhks to help you lose your footing ri

You can have your cake and & NOT eat it too.

What happens when a crafty offbeat bride doesn't like cake but doesn't want to miss out on the aesthetics that a “wedding pie” just doesn't quite provide? She crochets one… Wow. OBT member Corinne is responsible for this amazing wedding creation (as well as the fabulous crocheted flower embellished bouquet from last week).

Sabrina’s Amazing Wedding Dress Paintings

I just discovered a fellow wedding blogger Sabrina and OBT member Blablover5 's amazing talent for re-creating wedding dresses on canvas! It all started when she realized “the most expensive piece of clothing I have ever owned was sitting in the closet, I decided to create a painting of it.” And she did a phenomenal job . She then started doing paintings of other people's wedding dresses and groom's suits, much to the delight of the brides. And that's when she realized that she had a good thing going here and opened an etsy store

Mayor wants say on News International scheme

News International will need to wait for mayoral approval even if it gets council approval for its Wapping redevelopment plans. Tower Hamlets Council officers have urged committee members to green-light the media giant’s plans for a “modern campus style office building” complete with shops, restaurants and a museum. The application will be heard tonight (Thursday), but Boris Johnson has demanded that it should be referred back to him if approved.

How The Record Industry Committed Suicide

“The mass-marketing practices that the Record Industry adopted and mastered in correlation with file-sharing’s rise into predominance may have, in turn, created the ultimate paradox.  Wherein the more the major labels focused on producing music that could be highly and quickly popularized, the more expecting  fans perceived these artists negatively, perhaps, avoided buying their albums, and preceded to file-share their potentially ‘short-lived’ songs instead.”Don’t miss Kyle Bylin’s latest essay
