Today’s featured Little Black Book photographers, Britney Gardner and Joe Rumore shoot weddings from coast to coast! This one ~ just happened to be in New York City on an unseasonably warm spring day. However, the bride, Melane , didn’t mind the heat one bit … she’s a Texas girl at heart! She and Ryan asked 30 of their closest friends and family to fly to New York with them to celebrate their marriage in Central Park! The morning of the wedding, Melane’s bridesmaids were busily putting the flowers together while hair, make-up and the final details were being attended to … Meanwhile, at Camp Ryan … … and then the final reveal … that romantic “first look” … Melane and Ryan headed outside into the hustle and bustle of New York City for a flurry of photos to commemorate the day. I've spent most of the weekend geeking out on OBB's new commenting system … proving that really, when it comes right down to it, I am 100% web nerd. After seeing IntenseDebate commenting tool being used on genderfork.com (an awesome site that, as they say: “…explores androgyny and gender variance through artistic photography and other neat stuff”) I decided to try installing the plugin here on OBB. And OMG, it's awesome! Commenting on OBB just got white hot… The new commenting tool includes cool stuff like: Commenter avatars (more info about that below) Threading, so you can reply to a specific comment instead of just adding your comment to the end Paging for posts with tons of comments Comment voting so that if you love a comment you can give it a thumbs up Subscribing, so that if you can receive notification when new comments are added to a post Comment reporting so y'all can let me 'n' the interns know if you catch a trollish/spammy comment before we do …and so much more ! Commenters can still leave their comments as a guest, the same as you always have

Lately I’ve been trolling Etsy like crazy for everything from wedding day jewelry to rehearsal dinner outfits. Buying stuff off of Etsy makes me feel good for many reasons: 1) it’s unique, 2) it helps to support independent artists and crafters, 3) it’s cheap, and 4) a lot of the stuff you can buy is made out of recycled or repurposed ( upcycled ) items. Rehearsal dinners are always a blast. More low-key than the wedding dinner the next day, everyone’s super excited for the upcoming nuptials, and it allows the bride, groom, bridal party, and parents to have some quality time to relax, eat some good food, and have a fabulous time before the big day! But sometimes people forget about the actual purpose behind the Rehearsal dinner – the rehearsal! It’s an important element of the wedding ceremony, and can really help to alleviate stress on the day of the wedding. I don’t always suggest having a rehearsal – if you’re having a very straightforward wedding ceremony (no rituals or ceremonies in the ceremony itself, a minimal wedding party, no music changes or cues), it’s not always necessary.

Jenna & Joe’s engagement photography session Hartford, Connecticut Jenna & Joe Jenna and Joe are getting married next month in beautiful Mystic, CT at the historic Seamen’s Inne , located on the Mystic River.  They love boating, and the quaint town of Mystic, so the location was an easy choice for them!  After knowing each other for over four years, Joe proposed to Jenna in front of all their family at his mothers birthday party, and Jenna admits he was a nervous wreck!  Jenna and Joe are a really beautiful couple, fun and very relaxed!  We met up at Elisabeth Park in West Hartford for their engagement session, and all had so much fun!  Jenna’s lovely mother joined us as well, it was great to have an extra pair of hands and eyes, thank you!  Elizabeth Park is such a treasure, the park encompasses 102 acres and boasts many garden areas, pathways, greenhouses, lawns, a picnic grove, a pond and recreation areas.  The center piece of Elizabeth Park is the two and a half acre garden of some 15,000 rose bushes. It is the oldest municipally operated rose garden in the country and has about 800 varieties of roses, the perfect location for Jenna and Joe’s shoot!  We truly enjoyed spending the evening with them, and can’t wait to photograph their wedding next month!
