Birkhill Castle Wedding Photography. Louise and Peter part 3

After a few dances it was time for me to pack up and head off. What a great day and a lovely couple. Being invited to photograph Weddings like that is such an honour, considering I had only met them once before I was welcomed into their family with absolutely no hesitation

Red Rocks Wedding ~ Colors Of The Wind ~ From Sedona Bride

Sorry … I just couldn’t help myself! This first photograph made me want to look up the lyrics to “Colors Of The Wind.” It’s one of the most awe-inspiring images I’ve ever seen! This is the wedding of Veronica and Olivier as seen through the lenses of Andrew and Katrina ~ Sedona Bride .  Olivier and Veronica are from Canada and were married in May in a unique American Indian ceremony.

Sedona Bride At Seven Canyons Resort

We have three gorgeous weddings from Andrew and Katrina of Sedona Bride . First up was Christine & Trent’s ultra-sophisticated New Year’s Eve Wedding at the Tempe Center For The Arts .  And now we have Alyssa & Michael’s beautiful wedding at the exclusive Seven Canyons Resort. One of the very best parts of showcasing Sedona Bride’s weddings is that the total and absolute essence of the colors in their images almost jumps off the page! Try as I might to surround myself with the soothing nature of neutrals and whites, it’s color that really rocks my world

Walk With Me

As you know , I am very much looking forward to this moment at our wedding: (source) Although the tradition of “giving the bride away” is considered incredibly outdated and very patriarchal, I think that the meaning behind the concept of a father walking his daughter down the aisle has changed in the last couple of decades. To me, it has become more of a symbol of parental support for the union, rather than a sign of male dominance. Being a fairly traditional girl, I have always wanted my father to walk me down the aisle.

A Star-studded (Love) Affair: It’s Almost Time for Our Lives to Change Forever

Hive, d o me a favor and play this song while you read this post. It’s the song that played during our bridal party processional and I think it really helped set the mood we were going for: Thank you, Amy Seeley… And so we had an “audience” full of our nearest and dearest friends and family, who were all gathered there in this edgy little Lower East Side theater, waiting to see us get hitched.

Blogging (or lack of it)

Yet again I am apologizing for the lack of posts here – it has been weeks now and I know that many people read my blog every month, the numbers are growing so I apologise that nothing has changed here for a while. So what have I been up to? December started off a little quiet, no Weddings at the start which is unusual but a fair bit of commercial work to keep me out of trouble and to keep the wolf from the door.

Portal Films + Jeffrey and Julia Woods = Black Label Cinematography

Good Morning 2010! Wow … it’s hard to believe we’re in a new decade. And while the technology of wedding documentation has grown by leaps and bounds, we find ourselves appreciating the older artistic styles of the past even more now than we did back then!  We’ve shown you several examples this week of the Super 8 style of cinematographry that has become popular with brides and grooms

Charity Calendars 2010

Happy New Year 2010! What, you haven’t gotten a wall calendar yet? Never fear, Calendars.Com has a bunch of great calendars to select from where a portion of proceeds goes to a worthy cause. Charity calendars are always great, because not only are calendars something you need plenty of around the house and around the office, they’re also a way to give to a charity in need, and also to remind yourself, your family members, and others who see the calendar of the important cause they’re supporting (and in turn, support it themselves)

Thank you 2009, for such a great year!

With this year coming to a close tonight, I wanted to take a couple moments to thank everyone that has made it such a successful 2009! Thank you to all of our amazing past/present/future brides and grooms! Thank you for trusting us when we lead you into a very dark and gross back alley, and tell you that it will be a great photo!  Thank you for your trust in us, to capture your unique day in our way and style.  And thank you for letting us party with you and at each wedding, making us feel like part of the family.  This year would not have existed with out you! This year we added a new member to the “ Allison Reisz Photography ” team, our associate Megan. As many of you already know, Megan is an amazing talent, and has been such a big help to us in capturing your day. We feel she is the perfect fit and we could not be happier to have her on board! We are so happy to have her on our team, and can’t wait to see the amazing work she will produce in the upcoming year! Lastly, I wanted to end this with thanking my husband Rich.  As all of you know, Rich is more then just a husband to me, he is my partner and the second half to this business.  Rich is behind the scenes a lot of the time, and does not get the recognition he deserves.  Not only is Rich the amazing photographer that many of you have witnessed but he is a very strong pillar to this business and to myself.   We are truly a team, so thank you Rich for being more to me then just a husband.

Getting a Little Ahead of Myself

As I wait for my final discs with our wedding pictures on them, I figure it’s time to come clean and explain to the hive a pretty big mistake that I made early on which almost risked the beautiful images I am waiting for! When we first got engaged I wanted to jump head-first into planning; I wanted to book vendors and start crafting as soon as possible. We knew right away that we had a fairly long engagement in front of us and even though many vendors wouldn’t even consider talking to me that far out, I knew some would. Photographers in particular tend to book early and I was determined to get someone I liked.

A Star-Studded (Love) Affair: Taxi Time

Like I’ve mentioned before, there were many times in my wedding planning when I caught some flack for forgoing the traditional wedding day limo ride, in favor of a more affordable and more authentic New York taxi, which is where the inspiration for this set of photos came from: I just really wanted that iconic yellow in the background of some of our photos. You can’t tell me a limo would have looked this cool: I took my role as a taxi bride very, very seriously, of course: And many bridesmaids were necessary to help stuff me into that puppy, not to mention the multitude of staring onlookers: At some point in the cab ride, my MOH and I both realized that in the hustle and bustle of getting everyone out the door and into separate cabs, we were each separated from our respective purses. Ooops

Favorite Weddings of 2009 III

Today we’re doing the Style Me Pretty version of the year end countdown. Nothing official, no top 10 lists, no best-of’s, just weddings we loved from around the web. Any style, any blog… SMP staff picked their favorites and we brought them by to tell us what caught their eye about each affair

Favorite Weddings of 2009 II

This week, we thought it would be fun for you too see a few of the weddings that made our hearts flutter over the past year… a few that we just can’t get out of our heads. I loved seeing everyone’s picks and the reasons they loved each wedding so much. Eddye fell hard for this Illinois winery wedding from Jeffrey and Julia Woods for it’s emotional, beautiful photos, but also for the sweet-as-can-be family, Anna , Ryan and baby, Madeline.

Favorite Weddings of 2009

We’re going to be mixing things up a bit this week… don’t worry, we’ll still make sure you get your fill of gorgeous weddings before the new year is upon us. But for a change of pace we thought it would be fun to have some of the fabulous members of the SMP crew stop by to share some of their personal favorite affairs with all of you. The rules were simple, any wedding, anywhere on the web

We had our e-pics yesterday. I’ll chat more about our e-pic experiences (and gush about our photographers) in a different post, but I couldn’t wait to talk about one of the most exciting parts of getting fancy pictures taken as a couple: CLOTHES. Yes, I love me some clothes.

Backyard Wedding from Michele Waite

I just love a backyard wedding… especially when it’s a lovely affair like this one sent to us by Michèle Waite . So simple and still so effortlessly chic. I am particularly smitten with this color palette… the pretty pinks and soft grays, just gorgeous.
